High Tide

The current series called, High Tide is a narrative about the coral reefs which are at risk (particularly in the Caribbean). I am combining various techniques and materials: underwater photography with GoPro, digital editing, pigment print, painting, screen printing; raw pigments, fluid acrylics, interference and iridescent paints, ink, and wax pastels. Due to coastal development, watershed-based sediment and pollution, marine based threats, overfishing, acidification of the oceans and rising sea temperature. This results in the coral losing its vibrant color, and ultimately dying and losing coral reefs has ecological, social and economic effects. Without coral reefs, fish will not have the habitat they need to thrive, cutting back on food sources for people. This problem is very important and through art I would like to expose the problem and hopefully solutions can begin.
